ClimateLaunchpad: The Green Business Ideas Competition

Your idea could be in renewable energy, reducing food waste, reducing the use of non-renewable resources, improving transport efficiency, or any number of other possibilities!

With over 50 countries participating in this year’s competition, as the ClimateLaunchpad National Lead for Tanzania, Anza have the chance to send Tanzania’s top two teams to the compete in the Grand Final!

Last year Anza sent two upcoming entreprenurs, Diana from Millennium Engineers Enterprises and Myles from Sagar Energy Solutions.

Millennium Engineers Enterprises was nominated for the ‘Energy Theme Prize’ and after a dramatic turn of events Sagar Energy Solutions took home the 2,000 Euro prize for Best ‘Placed Systems Innovation and Social Impact’!

What can I win?

A minimum of seven teams from Tanzania will be selected to compete in the Tanzania National Final with the top two progressing to the Grand Final.

In preparation for the National Final all seven teams will be able to attend a Boot Camp followed by six intensive coaching sessions. These sessions will help you to perfect your pitch, value proposition and business model.

The top-10 teams at the Global Grand Final win direct access to the EIT Climate-KIC accelerator.

The winner of the Global Grand Final receives € 10,000, the runner up gets € 5,000 and the idea that comes in third place wins € 2,500.


a. Anyone with a promising cleantech idea, being a start-up, SME, researcher, student, public organisation, consultant, engineering company, a combination of these or anyone else.

b. You can only enter in your own country (as defined under 3c);

c. You can not enter ClimateLaunchpad if you’ve already been accepted into Climate-KIC Accelerator or have participated in ClimateLaunchpad (or the former CleanLaunchpad) with the same business idea in a previous year;

d. You can only enter if:

  • you have not yet started a business or your company has been incorporated for less than a year (definition: your legal entity does not exist for more than 1 year);
  • you have attracted less than € 200.000 in investment (definition: no funding as a venture. Funding as a student is not counted);
  • you have not yet sold products, solutions or prototypes on commercial terms.
