Female Entrepreneurs Growing Greener Economies Program

In 2023, the Feminist Entrepreneurs Growing Greener Economies (FEGGE) project made significant strides in empowering Female-Led Small and Medium Enterprises (F-SMEs) through one-on-one consultations. A collaboration between Anza Entrepreneurs and MEDA, the project focused on supporting 25 F-SMEs, driving their growth through personalized business development. Key themes included digital transformation, with 96% of the participants now using multiple social media platforms to market their products, up from 40%. The consultations also emphasized sustainability, helping businesses adopt eco-friendly practices that reduced their environmental footprint while opening new market opportunities. Legal compliance was another focus, with compliance rates improving from 50% to 80%, leading to broader business opportunities. Gender mainstreaming was at the core of FEGGE’s mission, extending business services to both female founders and their staff. As a result, 100% of participants developed gender and safeguarding policies, fostering inclusivity and professional growth. The project’s personalized approach, combined with diverse partnerships, significantly enhanced the operational efficiency and market reach of F-SMEs. As FEGGE moves forward, these successes will continue to drive economic empowerment and create a sustainable business ecosystem for female entrepreneurs in Tanzania.
